By Tyler Koslow

When people generally think about the city of San Francisco, their minds likely wander toward the progressive culture, the tech bubble of Silicon Valley, or the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. But the truth of the matter, which was recently highlighted by the amount of money the city poured into hosting Super Bowl 50, is that homelessness has become a major issue in San Francisco.

By Tyler Koslow

While we’re all busy scrambling to find out what 3D printing will be applied to next, two brothers in the state of Washington are taking the technology along for a ride upon the high road, so to speak. After the state legalized the recreational use of cannabis back in November 2012, University of Washington art students Al and Saul Jacobs decided to create Printabowl. Their goal was to redesign the traditional water pipe to represent a ‘functional sculpture’, and they decided to use ceramic-based 3D printing in order to accomplish it.…

For just about over 250 million years now, the tortoise has managed to (slowly, but surely) survive various mass extinction events and predators of all types, becoming one of the most ancient and resilient animals to still roam the earth today. Unfortunately for this species, particularly the Desert Tortoise (generally located all across the Mojave Desert), endangerment is approaching quickly as their population is ravaged by the growing number of predatory ravens, which have been accumulating due to human landfill and litter.…

Ikea’s Space 10 Shows Us the Future of the Meatball (Hint: It Includes 3D Printing!)

By Tyler Koslow

As the oncoming threat of global warming increases by the day, more and more countries around the world have finally started taking this threat seriously, looking at our common practices to figure out how we are contributing to the overheating of our planet. What scientists have discovered is that it isn’t our fossil fuel emitting cars or our non-degrading landfills that are the biggest threat to the environment (though I’m sure they contribute in their own way), but actually our meat industry that has been most detrimental to the Earth.…
