VIDEO: Branch Technology boasts world’s largest 3D printed structure

As anyone with a passing interest in science and technology will have noted, deviations on phrases such as world first or world’s largest are still a popular headlining grabbing trick. In the past, 3D Printing Industry has observed that projects combining 3D printing and construction are particularly prone to taking a ride on the hype-slide. Although […]

3D printing in construction, architecture and the built-environment

The use of 3D printing for construction and architecture is a rapidly developing area. Additive manufacturing is used not only in the design stages of construction projects, but is also bringing remarkable full-scale structures to life.  This article highlights some of the possibilities that 3D printing brings to the built-environment. These include 3D printed houses, […]

Longest 3D printed part Guinness Book World Record set by Made In Space

At 37.7 meters (123 ft, 8.25 inches) long, a beam 3D printed by Made In Space has made it into the Guinness Book of World Records as the “longest 3D printed non-assembled piece.” The beam, which runs the length of the Moffett Field facility at NASA’s Ames Research Center, serves as a demonstration of the scale that may one […]

WATG 3D printed house from Branch Technology enters testing

The prospect of 3D printed house is drawing closer as 3D printing for construction means designers can be bolder than ever before. Branch Technology is a freeform building firm behind some of the largest 3D printed structures to date. Searching for ways to really push its KUKA-powered process, the firm launched the Freeform Home Design Challenge. […]

Fraunhofer institute combines SLM green laser copper 3D printing with robotic LaserTAB technology to micro-join battery cells

The Fraunhofer Institute of Laser Technology (ILT), based in Aachen, on the France-Germany border, has invented a process combining copper 3D printing technology with their laser-based tape-automated bonding (LaserTAB) application to micro-weld prismatic, round and pouch cells battery cells. This automated process, which combines both 3D printing and robotics will be displayed at the Munich […]

Technology Meets Nature
